doctorin' the tardis

completely random, but i love how on TEH INTERNET you can start out someplace and end up, many hours later, someplace completely different, full of new knowledge, ideas, and just generally a new way of looking at things. of course, since i'm a total geek, i like to open new browser windows instead of pressing 'back' incessantly (and no, i don't ALWAYS do it--how many browser windows do i need?). i just went back through my navigation through the past several hours, and i thought, "hey, i was there! i remember seeing that!" i had been inundated with so many new ideas since that point that i had completely forgotten where i had come in. it was interesting, like tracing a conversation back through several topics, looking at the progression made by clicking on various links out of curiosity, sifting through various peoples' blog archives to try and find a comment they made that someone else had referenced (but not provided a link to!), and just generally learning more ideas and viewpoints. it's nice to have a tangible sense of progression, to go back and see, "i was there. now i'm here," even if it's only on such a minute scale. i have a tangible sense of my progress. i made progress! i am filled with a sense of the immediacy of the knowledge that's been imparted, and i soaked it all up. i am a sponge. a sponge full of IDEAS!
...yeah, i'm just a tad bit punchy here at 2:25 a.m. on a thursday morning. i know that's not what the time is at the bottom of this entry. one day i'll go into java and fix the template and the clock will work. but today is not that day. and tomorrow doesn't look good either.
now everyone will be disappointed in me when i say that this evening's mad internet browsing, my shiny newfound knowledge, is about doctor who. yes, all the progress i made was doctor who-fandom-related. now i reveal that i am a MEGA SCIFI GEEK WITH NO LIFE!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!
i think that college is very much contributing to my geekiness. i always had the inclination and the tendencies (original star wars trilogy), but not the means. now there's communities and forums and message boards and pretty icons to show my allegiance. not to mention fanfic. scary place, that, but also my home, tho i only tread into the harry potter fanficage on a regular basis. since doctor who is still off, i've got torchwood, and my interest is pretty much all-consuming at this point (though the oft-whispered rumor that scholastic will release harry potter 7 on 7/7/07 came round again, and tantalized me for a bit), and the amount of time i spend with all things torchwood is not to be believed. i analyze each episode. if someone mentions something i didn't catch, i'll step through the frames until i catch it. i'm not into doing screengrabs and manips yet, but i figure it's only a matter of time. i'm in other fandoms, but these three are really what i expend my energy on.
so i embrace my geekiness! plenty where that came from! hurrah!
...now to get the network execs to show torchwood on scifi channel here...*drums fingers*
