threatening beef buns

i think i'll reserve judgment on daleks in manhattan until i see the second part of the story next week.

i will say that i was utterly unsurprised by the results of sek's "final experiment," since i got spoiled by the radio times cover, just like nearly everyone else.

i thought i may have become a slight martha fan, at least a little, last week, but now it seems she's just as annoying again. why is that? i mean, technically she's not anything, it's just how she was written, but all the same. foof.

and even though this is yet another example of rtd's bringing back a popular monster from the previous series, at least the doctor's "why do they always survive when i lose everything?" is heartfelt.
and at least we do have continuity from doomsday, when sek and a few of the others disappeared from the battle of canary wharf. but i think that as far as who remains on, the daleks can never be gotten rid of entirely.

not enough of a whovian yet to determine whether or not sek's insistence upon evolution rather than remaining pure is a truly dalek sentiment. according to the emperor it's not, though he did do something similar in order to rebuild his army (as seen in bad wolf/parting of the ways), but is this an accurate depiction of how the cult of skaro should behave? i can go into sek's motivation ad nauseam, but i suppose it makes sense, at least in the context of this story arc.
and i loved gershwin's rhapsody in blue there at the beginning. fantastic.
