lions, tigers, wfi oh my!

just a thought: dried crunchy carrot bits smell exactly like the stuff you use to line your rabbit's cage. luckily, they don't taste like it.
they taste like dried crunchy carrot bits.

i've only been awake for 3 hours, and i'm already having a bad day. while i was driving, the lady in front of me decided to tell me off. seriously, she was waggling her finger at me and everything. i might have been following her a little closely, but i was trying to get her to wake the fuck up.
this was not my fault. she was going 15 in a 50 zone. grr.
i know delaware has bad drivers, but it just gets more ridiculous every time i go out.

the Great Strikeout Debacle of 2007 proceeds apace on lj. i'm afraid that i enjoy reading all the posts about it, unlike most people, who are sick and tired of it. so many people are talking about jumping ship and are getting blogs on other sites, like greatestjournal and even blurty. some people are already moving house.

nonetheless, here are some pretty good primer links for DedLJLink '07:
liz_marcs: about that lj rumor...

cordelia-v: organizing a push back

and an example of having one's account suspended for entirely the wrong reasons:
alowtimidvoice

barakb25 (in lj news): well we really screwed this one up...

and as always, fandom_lawyers is your go-to comm for any thorny lj-related legal issues.

i think the reason that i find this whole thing very interesting is that it is somewhat personal to me, pornish_pixies being squarely front and center in the spotlight, as the most-publicized example of a wrongful shutdown. i was a very frequent watcher of the comm (you actually had to be invited as an approved fanfic author/artist), and as your normal (normal?!) 20-something fangirl, cross my heart that it wasn't an online den of pedophilia-based sin and iniquity. it was just about slashy smut. that's it. and it was a great place to chill and read lots of smutty smut from some wonderful fanfic authors. even the comm's slogan states their business concisely and to the point: "the community you wank off to." *snerk*

the point: people liked lj. it was home to a lot of people, and they knew each other, and it was a great place to be. people felt safe.
and now they don't.
