or if it was, they didn't say it anywhere.
and you know google likes to smear its logo feces across the landscape.
and if it was previously "powered by google," i wonder why it says so now, when before it didn't.
the problem is, google is getting to be everywhere. and i can't help it, i'm just another enabler, because it really is that easy to "google it" and find whatever the hell you're looking for. piece of cake.
this proliferation of google is a little worrying (at least to me) because i don't think it's at all possible to have a monopoly on the internet.
but it seems like google is putting in a bid, anyways.
they're pretty shrewd, and i'd like to know exactly how far they're planning to take this.
and what they'll do next.
kind and beneficent amassers of free information vs. evil puppetmasters of doom?
two days in a row at the dentist, about an hour apart, same song on the radio, heard in the pause between the drilling and the filling: rihanna's umbrella. same part of the song, too. odd.
and because i have to, now: "you can stand under my umbrella ella ella ay ay ay under my umbrella ella ella ay ay ay."
annoying song, but the chorus has high stuck-in-head-ability quotient nonetheless.
for your gums: first they do the numbing gel that tastes like watermelon on a little swab, then they stick the needle in partway, inject a little, and stick it in farther, rocking it back and forth.
this is always the best part.
but they tell you not to look at the needle. because you might get scared.
i have watched:
three korean dramas (witch yoo hee, sweet spy--can i just say how hawt dennis oh is?!, my name is kim sam soon)
the original star wars trilogy (common themes: people/things getting their hand/arm chopped off because that's what lightsabers do, people falling down/into deep holes-the sarlaac also counts here-oh, and no matter what anyone else up to and including george lucas says, han so shot first)
episode one (i shouldn't have, but queen amidala does the strong female thing)
mr. & mrs. smith (the original hitchcock-directed one, not that piece of shit with wotshername)
the barkleys of broadway
a hentai which delights in the title of midnight sleazy train (original japanese title, not engrish)
eddie izzard's dress to kill
the robin hood 2006 tv series
green wing series 2 and the christmas special
all of black books
kal ho naa ho
walk the line
a matter of life or death
the holiday (in a fit of girlish abberation)
most of the densha otoko drama
part of mohabbatein (friend them and the rest will come)
...i'm sure there was more, but you can only remember eight things at a time (or words to that effect).
it has been pointed out that this is true (sad, true and sad, sad because it's true), and i would be inclined to agree with that assessment:
potter puppet pals go freestyle, then go away forever:
lambada was called "the forbidden dance" for a reason. scandalousness! but that kid can freaking dance:
m.i.a.'s official vid for boyz came out, and wow is it seizure-inducing:
but still colorful.
ELO, how do i love thee? let me count the ways...
of interest to noone but myself, a video that was made for a 1983 japanese anime convention called daicon IV using ELO's twilight:
and since it was apparently an influential amv (or con, possibly), the densha otoko drama team decided the show's opening credits should be a tribute:
and then you run, because it's easier than staying
and you wonder why it should be this way
but you never cared enough to find out
and so it goes
happy now?
"i am concerned with the answers, not the questions; though you may argue that the two are inextricably linked, and one cannot exist without the other. and perhaps this is so. but i will tell you again, it is the answers and only the answers that concern me."
Labels: google owns everything, i'd rather be in jamaica, no more pink frosting, template
i don't need the google account anyway.
the only "pro" on this imaginary list is the labels. and what fun i can have with those. really.
oh, and i refuse to go and "retro-label" my old posts. waste of time. i disabled the archives too, because i went back and read some of my shit from last year and they were fucking stupid. i like the idea that everything i write here is transient, and will disappear into the black hole of the internet after a fixed period of time. i'm sure that in a year or so, if i came back and looked at some of the stuff i wrote this year, i'd cringe and make it go away.
i messed around with the template and not only got it to display titles for posts, but i also moved the date to the bottom of the post. aand i fixed the time zone clock thingy.
been blissed out on cupcakes all day. and last night as well, come to think of it. before valentine's day, i can't remember the last time i ate a cupcake, and now i don't want to see another one for some time. and if i see any more pink frosting, i'll shoot it. ahhh, and i had no class last night and none today due to the inclement weather.
do you sometimes pretend that things are one way when they really are another? do you make yourself believe something that you know, on some level, is not and never could be true?
and every morning when i go to breakfast in the nest, buy my coffee, toast my bagel, and sit down to eat, the television on the wall is always showing ads for jamaica. and i see negril and kingston, runaway bay and dunn's river falls, even rose hall splashed out across the plasma flat screen in all their sunny glory, as bob marley (or really, someone channeling him) sings "one love" in the background. and i feel a terrible wave of homesickness wash over me.
i hate the cold.
Labels: google owns everything, sicky sick, templatebeta blogger. this is a sign that google will eventually (if they don't already) own the planet. ooh yes, i'm new and improved now, and to celebrate it,
what you can see: i got myself a lovely new template.
in other news, i would like there to be an impenetrable wall around me with a flashing neon sign running around the outside of it (a la the constantly running horizontal stock market bars on buildings in new york city), simply stating "I AM SICK, PLEASE FUCK OFF." it would be like a get out of jail free card, the ultimate excuse to get out of absolutely everything. sadly, that doesn't work in real life. i missed seeing dir en grey in philly because i couldn't not go to class, i haven't made it to the gym in a week, and i'm dragging my carcass around, coughing painfully, not being able to speak properly because of the coughing, and just generally feeling sorry for myself.
